  1. the cro - magnon was like the neanderthal  it was a modern looking man with very pronounced features. the The Homo Sapien Cromagnon people which were the last evolution of humans before the humans we are today lived around from 10 to 100 000 years ago. Although it is a pretty wide range of years, the guess is at least correct within a few thousand of years. The Homo Sapien Cromagnon people looked about the same as us but were probably a little less resistant to certain conditions. The only difference in looks between the Cromagnons and us is that they were probably just a little bit hairier having been just a little bit of closer relation in genetics to apes. That is a brief description of the appearance of the Homo Sapien Cromagnon humans.

The Cromagnums were also the most skilled at meeting their basic needs other then the people of today. In result of their improved intelligence their brain size grew to 1000 to 1700cm cubed a big improvement from the Homo Sapien Neanderthals who were the humans before them. The Cromagnon people developed new technology throughout their history making tools to help them fish, hunt, sew to make clothes and tools to fight with each other. The skill the human developed in the Cromagnon stage was to think through complex situations and ideas. The Homo Sapien Cromagnon people were first discovered in France, near the cradle of civilization

  2. Cro Magnon left us beautiful cavepaintings - done by the light of torches - if you saw one today you wouldn't notice it.

  3. population of early Homo sapiens dating from the Upper Paleolithic Period (c. 40,000 to c. 10,000 years ago) in Europe.

Cro-Magnons were robustly built and powerful and are presumed to have been about 166 to 171 cm (about 5 feet 5 inches to 5 feet 7 inches) tall. The body was generally heavy and solid, apparently with strong musculature. The forehead was straight, with slight browridges, and the face short and wide. Cro-Magnons were the first humans (genus Homo) to have a prominent chin. The brain capacity was about 1,600 cc (100 cubic inches), somewhat larger than the average for modern humans. It is thought that Cro-Magnons were probably fairly tall compared with other early human species.

  4. Modern people today, are genetically Identical to the 5 skeletal remains found in a French cave known as Cro-Magnon, and dated to appx. 30,000 years ago!

As the other poster suggested, Chimpanzees are about 98% identical to us, DNA-wise...Neanderthals, about 99.9% identical to us!

Humans, chimpanzees, bonobos, gorillas and orangutans, are all classifed as apes!

  5. Uh WE are homo sapien (actually, we're homo sapiens sapiens), AND we're apes.

if you want to read more about human evolution; there's a link to a timeline near the bottom of the page.

  6. Cro Magnons were proto-Caucasians, it's more of a racial description than anything else. Northern Europeans, mostly the Scandinavians, match Cro Magnon morphological  measurements pretty closely. They've DNA tested some of the bones, and they have the same kinds of mitochondrial DNA as modern Europeans (type N and N1 are very common) with Y chromosome R being common in the men.

They were found in North Africa, West Asia and Europe.

  7. Well, I read some of the posts to your Q.

Years ago, anthropologists wanted to distinguish remains between modern man and our immediate fellow traveler in human evolution.

The French, who have the relevant caves, decided to differentiate between Neanderthal remains and those of modern man by designating us to be Cro Magnon.

Modern man, Cro Magnon or Homo Sapiens Sapiens, arrived in what we call Europe about, (no exact date) 100,000 years ago. We co-existed with Neanderthal until about 35 to 40,000 years ago when we unintentionally, extincted our cousins. We didn't;t mean to do it; it just happened.

Why did it happen? Old Neander was stronger than us, had a larger brain, was adjusted to the last glaciation of our current ice age better then we?

I agree with science that it had to do with the development (evolution) of our modern brain, specifically, the neocortical portion of our evolving brain. This improved organ allowed modern man to process information more efficiently than our cousins. We competed him out of existence, didn't intend to do it; we just did.

Cro Magnon...is us! The modern term is Homo Sapiens Sapiens. This term is awkward but these things develop with the best of intentions using the knowledge base at the time.

We no longer, for example, use the original description of a hairy, apelike appearance for Neander. Knowledge improves with time, it's up to us to try to keep up.

  8. It is not an ape. Cro-magnon men are considered  homo-sapien-sapiens, which are the group of humans that came before the homo-sapien, which is what we are today. These Cro-Magnon men had large cranial capacity, but were not as smart as humans today.

  9. 98.4% simular is a chimpanzee...  Cro-Magons were actually the last step before modern man, they are a sub species of homo sapiens, the species to which we belong.
