  1. Homoeopathy does work, however you would need to visit a homoeopath. They will suggest a remedy which they think will help,  if this does not work they will suggest something else. I consult a homoeopath whenever the need arises.

If however I am depressed or anxious, I take a herbal preparation called St John's Wort. Its cheap, quick and VERY effective. Buy the one-a-day tablets. As well as being a tremendous help for depression etc., it's a natural anti-inflammatory. I don't know if this will help with the Acid Reflux, perhaps someone else will come in on this.

  2. What Avondrow said, see my source for more info about homeopathic medicine.

  3. Homeopathic is good.  It can work, but it depends on what your problem is.

With Acid Reflux, I would first make sure not to drink any bottled water.  It is acidic and can cause this problem.  The other is to stop drinking acidic drinks like soda.

  4. It's not natural, it is the invention of a 19th century quack, and it is not medicine, it is water. Homoeopathic products contain no active ingredient at all. Apart from a placebo effect, they can do nothing, because they contain nothing!

  5. Of course it does- and no side effects!

  6. homeopathy is retarded; absolute garbage

oh and Empress, sweetie, St John's Wort is not homeopathic

hows about you (and others) try to understand the different between homeopathy and herbalism

  7. Further to what the last two answerers said: homoeopathic medicine can and does work for some people, and to rule it out as "just a placebo effect" isn't strictly fair.

The problem with homoeopathic medicine is that it's very hard to prove why it works. Remedies are given with tiny amounts of active ingredients in them - the idea is that it will stimulate the body to develop a means of treating an illness or symptom itself.

Lots of people swear by homoeopathic remedies. I have tried them myself, and unfortunately they didn't work for me - but that doesn't mean I'd rule them out completely, because I do know of people who have had very positive and lasting effects from it. Everyone is different, and therefore everyone will react differently. For something like stress or anxiety - it's certainly worth a go, and is also a harmless alternative to prescribed drugs.

As someone has suggested - maybe it IS a placebo effect that makes homoepathic medicine work - but if it works, does it matter why?

  8. Yes it is good and yes it does work. Start taking St John's Wort as a starter - it is a natural way to help depression.
