Question:

Homosexuality & violence a bi-product of overpopulation?

I have a theory that the abundance of violence & gayness is just evolution's answer to overpopulation. Of course, both have been around for quite some time now, but just take a moment to fathom the idea. It would make sense for it to be a natural step in evolution because gayness would typically stunt population a bit, and with violence becoming more common in society, it almost seems as if it's nature's way of trying to get rid of some people. Is there any evidence to support my theory? And note, it's simply a theory. I'm not stating that it's a fact.

  1. OK so in ancient Greece and Rome where homosexuality was acceptable they were overpopulated??? by todays standards?!?!?!

there are also many animal species that partake in homosexual / transgender behaviour... surely this demonstrates that homosexuality is pretty natural?

i think people need to stop worrying what other people are doing with their lives (are g*y people hurting anyone by being g*y - NO.) and get a life and concentrate on themselves

  2. Well, there is the Bible story of Cain & Abel - only four people on earth then - seems like overpopulation was not the start of violence.

By they way, Guest 3609 is wrong, genetic "Negative selection" is by species.

  3. In the rat studies, the rats killed other rats because they were competing for resources. This is very common, even amongst humans. If we kill our neighbor we can have his stuff.

As far as homosexuality as a result of overpopulation, there is not any evidence to support this. If this were the case, there would be higher incidence of homosexuality in places with massive overpopulation like india. As of yet this has not been observed.

Interestingly enough it is often argued that homosexuals shouldn't get married because they cannot naturally produce children. That would help curve the overpopulation, which is a good thing.

Owe, and it is an uneducated guess, which is less than an educated guess, which is less than a hypothesis, which is less than a theory, which is less than a law.
