Homozygous, Heterozygous, Recessive and Dominant?

Hi. I was told in class to come up with a paragraph including all these 4 words in it. The paragraph has to be of reasonable length and in easy to understand terminology. It also has to relate to Genetics. Thanks for your help!

  1. I think it has something to do with the probability of inheriting traits from parents or something. Sorry that's all I got.


  2. homozygous - having identical pairs of genes for any given pair of hereditary characteristics.

    heterozygous - having dissimilar pairs of genes for any hereditary characteristic.

    recessive - that one of a pair of alternative alleles whose effect is masked by the activity of the second when both are present in the same cell or organism.

    dominant - he one of a pair of alternative alleles that masks the effect of the other when both are present in the same cell or organism.
