I want to make a bigger cage for my guinea pig. I have checked out the c&c cages but I have no idea where to get those materials. I want to make a cage out of materials that I probably already have at home or are cheap and easy to find.

  1. go to a local plastic shop and get the plastic coroplast and go to target for the cubes go to www.cavyspirit.com  for really easy instructions, don't use chicken wire it is very bad for guinea pig's feet!

  2. There's a search right on the site that helps you find the supplies: http://www.guineapigcages.com/where.htm

  3. You can buy like big mesh squares to clip together in any shape you want hold on I'll link you - theyre so cheap.

arrange them in any convenient shape u want

  4. *6 - 2"x2"x2' lumber

    *4 - 2"x2"x3'-4' lumber

    chicken wire

heavyer gauge wire mesh?(holes about 2cmx2cm)

    door latch

    ring clamps(optional)

    Staples/staplegun

wire(can pull out of unused portion of chicken wire if needed)

    nails & hammer

make a box out of the wood... nail together securly

wrap chicken wire around sides and top of the inside of said box... fasten with staples to boards... fasten wire mesh to inside bottom of the box...

wrap wire along all open edges (wrap cut ends of chicken wire around the opposite piece for added security first)

cut a door out of the chicken wire preferably in the top of the cage... fold cut edges and fasten one side to the edge of your door useing ring clamps or wire loops... fasten door latch to opposite sid of the door... if on top you can use a latch made from your loose wire... remember to make sure no sharp edges are showing keep them all wrapped or sanded down... if you dont have any one or more of the items you can get them at your local pet or feed store...

    * use whatever length you want so long as it is the same numbers (6 short and 4 longer) short pieces are obviously for the sides and the longer are for the top and bottom sides
