I have to agree with the thinking behind it. and the usual logistic problems that come with the Chinese GP.

Do you think Honda is being fair to Nicky. I would go along with the backing Pedrossa as the no1 rider. and the long straights making it a sensible decision to run the pneumatic valve engine. I think they should bite the bullet and just take the new machine for both riders.

Any opinions on the subject ?

  1. Good Evening Gents,

Nice to see you back in funny section Mr Neil. You have been missed.

Dani will only spit his dummy out if he use's the new engine and it fails. Nicky on the other is just a born fighter and will battle through anything HRC give him.

I would love for Nicky to beat Dani in the title race ( again ) but this year, Dani is riding very well.

Next weekend will be a belter!

  2. According to the interview with Pedrosa in sport.es, he definitely said that it is dangerous to change the machine in the middle of the race, but if they don't do it (take the risk) they will never move forward (against Yamaha and Ducati). So, the chance is they will test the machine in Practice in Shanghai, and see whether to use it or not  in the race.

I myself, think that Honda is fair enough to Nicky, when the midget injured himself in winter test, Nicky did all the testing, he is a real hard worker, I like his attitude, and Honda likes him too,  HRC boss told sometimes that Nicky is great rider, I don't think they only care for Pedro.

Regarding in Losail, I read that it was Nicky's decision to use 2007 bike instead 2008. and it was a failure. Go Honda !!! :-)

  3. Like it or not, Honda's best chance for the championship lies with Dani. I think they are being sensible by hedging their bets and using both engines. But I also think that if anyone is going to be the Guinea Pig, it will be Nicky with the Pneumatic valved engine. I cant see Dani risking it until reliability has been proved beyond doubt. The spring valve is no slouch, especially with the tiny Pedrosa on it.

But, on a positive note for Nicky, if the air valves prove to be reliable, this could be his chance to outshine Hondas Protege.
