Question:

Honda Accord sceeching tire problems. (Not brakes)?

My front left wheel screeches on and off (mostly all the time though) in my 1990 Honda Accord DX. It's been doing this for a while, and doesn't effect the performance (yet) but is still really annoying. Any ideas?

  1. Why do you say "not brakes"? Even if they are stopping good they have wear indicators that will make a noise to let you know it is time to replace them!

Get an estimate and be safe!

I also have had a gravel to get wedged in the rotor to make a high pitch noise.

  2. if you see tire wear there may be an alignment issue, have a front end inspection performed by an alignment shop.

  3. check the ball joints and wheel bearings...they make a high pitched sqeal when they are on there way out...also make sure your tire isnt rubbing against your fender well because it will make a screeching noise if you hit a big bump or your struts are worn out...good luck!

  4. Alignment issue, tie rod end, lots of things. Take it to a tech ASAP to diagnose and lessen the costs.

  5. It could also be the inner or outer wheel barring. If it squeals more when you turn a corner, its probably a berring and needs changed ASAP.

  6. If it's not the brakes, I would have the control arms checked and if they are fine have it aligned. Most shops can do a four wheel alignment for 100 dollars.
