  1. All of the oild filters ar NOT the same, it will depend on the trim level of your car, different levels of the civic came with different motors. As far as the oil capacity goes, its going to be around 4qrts. Easy way is to go to your local autozone, walmart, advanced auto.... and they will have a book with all the oil specs and filter numbers. However i would reccomend a honda OEM filter over any other. You will need 5w30 (like the person above mobile one is excellent)

  2. When you buy an oil filter, there is always a book in the oil filter section. The book tells you the exact oil filter to get. Autozone, WalMart, Pepboys, Advanced Auto Parts. All of these places have the book in the oil filter section of the store.

It should be 4 quarts. Put 3.5 quarts and check the oil level. If it needs more, add the rest of the oil.

When you change oil, you must always get a new filter. Oil filters last as long as oil.

  3. Check your owner's manual!  Also, do yourself a big favor. Have your engine evaluated for the presence of sludge. You may need to have a desludge treatment.  After that, use Mobil One or Elf synthetic oil and a genuine Honda oil filter.  Your car's engine will LOVE you for it!!!. Also, shampoo your engine bay at a local do-it-yourself car wash. Keeping your engine bay clean is a good way to keep excess heat from buildingup and robbing you of power and MPG's. Good Luck!!
