Question:

Honda Civic brake question.....?

Hoping for a real answer here..... I just swapped the rear drums on my '99 Civic for Integra disks. My car has ABS, but the Integra brakes do not. There is no where to mount the wheel sensor. What would happen if I left the wheel sensors tucked away behind the brakes, other than the ABS not working. If the ABS system doesn't know the wheels are turning, will it assume the rear wheels are locked up and drop the pressure to the rear brakes? Again, I realize the ABS system will not work and the ABS light will stay on. I want to know if the rear brakes will function normally.

  1. The ABS electronics will "see" the sensors connected but wont "see" the wheels turns/ spin. When something like this happens the ABS light will turn on to warn you of a problem and the ABS pump will not operate leaving you with a "non-abs brake system".

So no it wont drop any pressure to the rear, you will have full pressure going to all brake calipers. The only problem you will have is if you live in a state that does vehicle safety inspections, ABS is a safety feature and if its inop (your abs light is on) you will fail inspection. Hope this helps.

  2. getan ecu that is non abs and go from there
