Honda Civic problems!!!?

Question

I have a 1993 honda civic ex(non vtec) that keeps shutting off after 5 seconds of driving. It had a warped head and I just got that fixed. Then the distributor went dead, got that fixed and It still shuts off after I accelerate. By the way its still blowing white smoke out of the exhaust. The stupid mechanics I took it to still don't know what the problem is. ITS BEEN IN THE SHOP FOR MORE THAN 2 WEEKS!!! WTF IS WRONG WITH MY CAR!!

Did you check the wiring harness? Mine would stop in the middle of driving because it was bad. Just as I slowed down and went to accelerate again. White smoke does not sound good. I hope you took it to a Honda mechanic. I learned the hard way, not all mechanics are in to Hondas and how to fix them.

The white smoke means you are burning coolant.  If the headgasket was redone and the head was decked(made straight) you might have a problem with a cylinder like a crack.  It's also possible they missed a crack in the head when if they did pressure check it.  

The distributor needing replacment for its age is normal, very common problem on the era of hondas.

Another thing to check when you start the car and it shuts off, that could be the ignition switch-pretty common too.  If when you start the car and it starts to die if you can hold the key in the on position.  Kind of hard to explain but you're basically holding the key on.  If it stays running I'd say thats your problem.  But you do have a problem with the whole burning coolant thing.  

My suggestion is take it to a dealer.  Yeah they will charge you 100.00 to tell you whats wrong with it but at least they know what their doing.

i had the same problem with my daughters 93 honda. i changed the coil inside the distributor,the rotor button&distributor cap. its been doing pretty good so far.that was about a month ago.

the head gasket is still leaking coolant into the cylinders.
