Honda Cr250 idling attitudes??

HY there

were new here in canada (from germany) and just buyed dirtbikes

my dad did buy himself a honda cr250 2002

when he tuns it on and has it in idiling its shutting off by itself where can he optimize the idiling on that type of bike

if somebody can help thanks

  1. CR250's have 2 stroke engines, when they are first cranked they dont idle perfect. they are built for wide open throttle, so you lose  the idle your used to with a 4 stroke engine. when you warm the bike up, it will idle better, but  i wouldnt idle very long with a 2 stroke. they tend to overheat if you idle for a while.


  2. its a 2stroke they will never idle i have been riding them for 15 years and i have a 2003 cr250 and the day i bought it the bike did not idle

  3. they overheat cause you don't have air going through the radiator. when you first start it give it VERY SMALL amounts of gas and when its warm, ride  slowly for about a minute and then go!

    also check the spark plug and replace if necessary
