Honda Fit or Toyota Yaris - which is better?

I'm buying a new car. I'm a single guy and don't need a lot of room. I am buying something that will be good on gas and reliable. My options are the Honda Fit or the Toyota Yaris.

Which do you think is a better car? Any info. from drivers of those cars will be nice too. I think they both look cool, and I like my Honda Civic, but it's time to trade it in. And I've heard a lot of good things about Toyota.

  1. Both are great cars made by equally excellant manufacs. I think the Fit is more cosmetically appealing but go with whatcha feel.

  2. Honda Fit

it comes standard with all power accessories, side curtain air bags and ABS brakes.

The yaris has a noisy unrefined engine, bad brakes, and a choppy hwy ride not to mention the annoying center mounted gauges.

Toyota's are good cars but the Yaris is poorly designed and inferior to the Fit

    Yaris

Highs: Fuel economy, turning circle, reliability.

Lows: ABS option hard to find, noise, acceleration, driving position, emergency handling, IIHS side-crash result w/o curtain air bags.

The Toyota Yaris offers excellent reliability and fuel economy of 33 mpg with the automatic, but overall it trails better economy cars. The ride is compliant and handling is reasonably responsive but gets sloppy and hard to control at its limits, especially in the hatchback model. Stops are very long without the optional ABS. Acceleration is adequate, but engine and road noise result in a loud cabin. The compromised driving position and the center-mounted gauges are frustrations. Although the starting price is enticingly low, a well-equipped Yaris sedan can easily top $15,000.

"Ultimately the Yaris scored too low in our testing to be recommended."

  3. the Fit.

the yaris is c**p. It has sloppy handling, horrid acceleration, and its poorly built. Not to mentino it has this weird winding noise once you get past 45 MPH.

The Fit is a fun little car thats reliable, and good on gas. It has a quiet engine, better handling, and it doesn't have the controls and odometer in the center unlike the yaris.

  4. Both are good fuel efficeint cars. However, I have never looked into ( and I shoudl being I sell Versa's), and one of the 2 you are looking at has the fuel tank under the drivers seat I have been informed.

That would be enough for me for a turn off ;)

    Good Luck!

  5. I work for one of the  biggest car auctions in Europe

and deal with most cars, ...both cars are excellent makes

with reliable dealers,  but the Honda is the better of the two

  6. I'd go with th Fit.  The Yaris is very cheaply built and noisy.  The fit has the Honda quality that I'm sure you've come to know and respect out of your Civic!!
