Honda Gresini rider Hiroshi Aoyama finishes in 15th position at Sachsenring – MotoGP news
San Carlo Honda Gresini team rider Hiroshi Aoyama was 15th to finish the recently held German Grand Prix at the Sachsenring circuit.
It was a hard-earned position for Aoyama after internally fighting with pain since the Assen crash.
Comparatively, he performed better than other satellite Honda RCV rider Toni Elias form the LCR Honda team. Aoyama was also placed 15th in the qualifying practice session. As Elias was a position ahead at 14th place on the grid, he
finished behind the Japanese rider at 16th place.
Aoyama said, “It wasn't an easy race, especially the first half, but I tried to finish it in the best possible way. Unfortunately my physical condition has been a problem all weekend and I have not found it easy. I have tried to get more confident with the
bike from session to session but it has been hard. I am sorry for the team and I hope to be in better shape for the next race at Laguna Seca.”
The Japanese rider was working hard to get a better feel on his RCV just the way he raced on the Factory Honda RCV at Assen, Netherlands.
During the Dutch TT Assen weekend, all three Repsol riders faced a crash in the opening moments of the qualifying practice session. Though Aoyama escaped any serious injuries, he is still facing pains following the crash.
In the last event at Mugello, he was struggling to overcome his pain and perform better but the Italian racer was hampered by the same factor.
Since his return from the factory team as a substitute rider, he has been searching to get a better feel on his machine and deliver a promising race.
After a tough race weekend, he is looking forward to the Red Bull U.S. Grand Prix, due to take place at the Laguna Seca on July 24, 2011.
Both Honda Gresini riders were let down by some problems but still the team hopes high for the upcoming round and the next half of the season which has just started.
