Honda Gresini team rider Marco Simoncelli dominates German GP practice sessions – MotoGP news
San Carlo Honda Gresini team rider Marco Simoncelli held top seats in both the free practice sessions for the eni Motorrad Grand Prix Deutschland at Sachsenring on Saturday.
The Italian rider was fast and safe whereas other riders suffered crashes on downhill turn 11. Super Sic is determined to show his fast pace in an improved manner. Lately, he has been known to have pace fast enough to crash out with reckless racing tactics.
Despite everything, he once again steamed to the top and set the benchmark for others to follow. He was the first rider to break the 1:23.00 seconds barrier in FP1 session.
Simoncelli said, “Everything is going well, although I am not totally happy because we have some rear traction problems on the left side that we are struggling to resolve. It seems everybody is in the same boat, but we will be working mainly on this area
tomorrow to try and improve the situation.”
The second major thing is to make the right choice for the tyres to be used for the race day. The practice runs and qualifying round will help in getting a clear idea about the tyres. After his 30-lap outing at the twisty Sachsenring circuit, Simoncelli
was exhausted and claimed that there is no long straight to catch a breath.
The Japanese rider, Hiroshi Aoyama at the Honda Gresini squad was not feeling good as he experienced pain from his Assen crash. He was struggling to solve grip issues during the practice session.
Aoyama said, “I had never ridden a MotoGP bike at Sachsenring before but I quite like the track. Unfortunately, I am still in quite a lot of pain from the Assen crash, but little by little I am gaining confidence.”
After the run, Aoyama claimed that the RCV was low on grip so his next task is to resolve the issue as soon as possible.
