I have an old Honda Trail 90. It needs rings. I live in Southern Utah. Can anyone recommend a reliable place where I can get the cylindar bored, and buy a new piston and rings to match the bore job.??

  1. I have an older (1978) Trail 90, too!  I just got it about 2mos ago.  I ride it to work in Boise, and the d**n thing gets over 100mpg!

Anyways, there are plenty of Honda dealerships in the SLC area, and anyone of them are capable of a ring job.  You might get away with new rings without a reboring. I'd get a few estimates before commiting to anyone.  If necessary, a top-end job shouldn't cost over $500 on these li'l b******s, and that includes the labor.

Also, check into a direct replacement engine from Loncin/Lifan/etc. They are Honda clones, and can be retro-fit into your bike. If you don't care about losing the low-range, this would be a good way to get the extra performance that all CT90 owners are after.

  2. Have you looked at the older Honda Shops?  A lot of old parts are still stored until the owner/founder kicks and they only need a customer.
