Question:

Honda Motorcycle question...?

I am going to be getting my motorcycle license for my 25th birthday present to myself, and am going to be getting a used motorcycle as well. I want a Honda, because they seem to be really reliable, but I do not want a crotch rocket version. What is the best road bike version?

Also, I do not want to spend over $3,000 on it either. Will that still get me a decent bike?

  1. I had nothing but Honda's and they were all great.  The largest was a Goldwing but you wouldn't be able to touch one of those for that kind of money.

I would guess somewhere around a 350 to 500cc would be good.

  2. Depends on how big you want to start. . .take the Motorcycle Safety course on the 250cc that they provide.  If you are feeling confident I would suggest the shadow vlx or vlx classic a 600cc motorcycle.  If you would like to build your experience or confidence pick up a 250cc rebel or yamaha virago 250cc; you can pick these up cheap and resell for the same price in a couple months with lots of confidence gained.   I learned on a Kawasaku vulcan 750cc.   It was slow learning on a big bike, but as long as you respect the bike you should have no problems.  I now ride a 1580cc Harley Lowrider ;)

    According to Kelly Blue Book

You should be able to get a 2000-2001 in your price range depending on if you like the vlx or vlx classic.

    .......Good luck chick!

  3. Look for a 600cc Shadow VLX.  It lists at $5500, new, so  you should be able to find a used one in your price range.

The bike is bullet proof and will be on the road long after trendy eye candy like the Low Rider have bit the dust.
