Honda cb250n...Problem of inner cables of speedo keep breaking....Speedo works freely ,drive gearbox is O.K.

replaced both inner & outer cables (new) but inner still breaks after couple of miles......?????

  1. I don't know your model at all, but I really think it could only be one of two possibilities:

    1. The cable is routed incorrectly and when the suspension moves, instead of the cable sliding in it's holder, it is being kinked and this pinches the inner cable and it breaks.

    2. The resistance of the speedometer is causing the cable to break. Take the cable off the speedometer, jam the right sized nail into the drive of the speedometer (the square end) and twist the nail quickly with your fingers. Watch the speedo, it should flick up to indicate some speed when you spin the nail.

    If you feel too much resistance with yours fingers, something is wrong in the speedometer.

  2. bush14 is right...  speedo is defective would be my guess..
