Honda cbr 600 running/riding problem?

I have a cbr 600 f1 (the old shape) the other week the battery blew up and as you could imagine, it broke afew things lol

so i had to replace the cdi unit, and the regulator rectifier

now the bike starts and runs fine on tick over and when you rev it.

BUT

when you drive it, its fine in first gear, but when you go into second and let the revs build up (same with 3'rd, 4th and 5th)

it dies, it doesn't cut out, it just won't go now matter how much you pull the throttle back

If you pull the clutch in it'll rev stright away, but as soon as you releast the clutch it just goes back to dieing, loses all of it's power

i've replaced the two coils, but now i'm stoomped on what it can be, any idea's????

before the battery blew up (due to high voltage) it was running fine

also my speedo and rev counter now doesn't work, but all the lights do etc

anyone know the answer to my problems lol

thank you

  1. wait wait wait.  You checked the fuses right?   i know it might sound funny but on those older bikes the fuses controlled a lot.  You dont have a power commander do ya?  if so that could also be the problem.  Disconect it if you have one. If not then... the F1 was carb... i was gonna say maybe a jet just  ended up getting clogged but that wouldnt make it rev in neutral....  lol sorry bro first time ive ever heard a problem like this.  Id also recomend the takin to your local bike shop. Sorry i couldnt help.

  2. Wow, with your battery blowing up you'd think it would be an electrical problem with your engine, but it doesn't look like that.  I'm sorry, it looks like the cbr needs professional help.

  3. A mechanic would be able to tell you for sure. Go post this on a few motorcycle/maintenance forums and they'll probably know .
