the car has 201,000 miles on it

they replaced the head casket and the radiator is replaced with a new one

i was wondering if i should buy it considering it is my first car and will it last at least a year with the 200,000 miles on it?

is it worth the money?

is it a fun car to drive?

thanks

  1. you can get a 150K mile one....better.

200 is a bit pushing it in my opinion.

  2. i have the same car 1997 honda civic ex 120,000 miles

hondas are very dependable  but depends on how much thier asking i got mine for $5900 with 97k miles so you probably shouldnt pay over 4k

as far as fun factor it is pretty good handling and decent acceleration for a  four banger especially with a five speed manual

  3. NO MAN! 200k is too high unless you swapping

my best advice for you is dont get your first car yet

use your time wisely and find other cars you like

and for a better price so that you dont regret it

    i did it twice haha

    too hasty

    take your time

cars like these are on sale everywhere

dont make the mistake i did by buying one and spending half what you spent of the car fixing it too

  4. Civics are good gas savers. Fun to drive also. Plenty of aftermarket support and different type of engines are readily available to drop in once the motor dies. 201,000 miles for $5000 is too much. Talk them down to $4000 at least. Also honda motors can last longer than 200,000 miles. Just got to make sure the motor was well taken care. My old civic had 240,000 miles and still running strong before I decided to put a bigger/faster motor in it. So yes get a civic.

  5. that is way to expensie for that car go to craigslist.com and you will finde cars like for 1500

  6. looks good. the value depends on how much they're asking. overall, civics are good choices. small, inexpensive, cheap insurance, good MPG, cheap maitenance, excellent reliability. as for 200K miles, i think you'll be OK. it is a first car. don't look for too much, as you probably won't keep it for too long anyway

  7. that's waaaaaay 2 many miles for that year! my 1996 civic barely has 200,000 on it...u could find something with a lot less miles for that price...don't get it!

  8. it is kinda high mileage and yes it would be a good first car and like tom said they last forever my 1986 prelude si was bordering 400k before i had to let her go.

  9. you should look around more... $3200 for a 200k civic is alot. ull deff find somthing with less miles that looks nice, my first car was a  95 prelude si that i paid 2k for with 120k mies.. my suggestion is to look around more

  10. I own a 5 speed 99 Civic and this car is great in gas, fun to drive and nice looking. I only have 93k on it though but it is the best car I had owned, you should get a Civic but I don’t think the one with 200k is the one. Keep looking around you will find one with less miles and maybe for less too. Not worth 5 grand with 200k.Yes you should get a beater for your first car but not a dead beater.

  11. Dang!!!!!  200K on it?!?!?!?!?  I do realize dats nothing for a Honda but seriously...200K dats a lil too high.  Maybe if it was 100K then i would consider it.  You're jus askin for more headaches since it had some major repairs already...dat means there's more to come ;-)

  12. It's up to you, I have a Prelude with 231k. It runs fine, better then most of my friends cars with under 100k. 90's Honda's run FOREVER. You can't really kill it. Civics are fun to drive, as any small car is. They drive much better than an Escort or Caviler, and are better on gas. for 5k you can find one with well under 100k though.
