Honda extends its collaboration with golf event for four more years
Reputed automobile manufacturer Honda has recently announced to extend its collaboration with the golf event of Honda Classic.
In a statement issued on Wednesday, the organisation said that it has decided to strengthen its bond with the PGA with a four-year extension.
Honda has been associated with the event since 1981, when the event was played for the first time at Inverrary.
Since then, the partnership has come a long way to South Florida this year. Prior to the event, PGA National was also launched as a new event in the year 2007.
It is important to mention here that the collaboration between PGA and Honda is yet another successful example of joint venturing.
This has previously been observed in the form of the AT&T Pebble Beach National Pro-Am that has been going on successfully since 1986.
Along with this, The Houston Open is yet another example of the cooperation provided by Shell in arranging the event since 1992.
Furthermore, PGA is among the very few golf bodies that have been able to keep all their major sponsors even in the situation of extreme economic downturn.
With sponsors like Shell and Honda, PGA is looking forward to organising more golf events with time.
This, on one hand, will help golfers to stay in rhythm throughout the year, and on the other hand, will also provide all these organisations with the opportunity of expanding their Corporate Social Responsibility campaigns.
Another important aspect that needs to be outlined here is that, since the onset of the financial meltdown in 2007, PGA has been able to get hold of 23 new sponsors adding to its portfolio.
The phenomenal expansion in the number of sponsors has played a vital role in motivating the organisation to arrange new events at new venues.
The latest development of organising events in places like Mexico and Puerto Rico are a part of this venture.
The recently held Mayakoba Classic took place at the El Camaleon course of Mexico, whereas, other upcoming events are scheduled to take place in Puerto Rico.
The only complication being encountered is in the case of Innisbrook, where the sponsorship agreement still needs to get renewed.
