Honda or Suzuki?

My dad finally said yes that I could get a dirt bike. I have $1000 saved and I'm deciding weather I should get a honda XR 125 or a suzuki RM 125. I'm aware that I'm just starting out as a bigginer and I was suggested the XR because its a starter bike, and it won't go fast. However I've been riding an Yamaha 250 ATV for 2 years now, so I'm wondering if the suzuki would be more suited for me, because it has a little more power. Help me out.

If this is your hardest decision in the next year it's going to be a good year. Basically either one or the one that fits you the best. Have fun.

normally, i would say go for the honda, but you're talking about a 4 stroke vs a 2 stroke of the same CC.... meaning, short of a completely new rider, the suzuki wins by default...

now if you were comparing maybe a honda 250 four stroke to a suzuki 125 two stroke, i'd say go for the honda...

but yeah, you've got experience riding, you're not gonna be happy with the power of the four stroke for long, go for the two
