Honda rider Casey Stoner reveals his chassis choice for the 2011 season – MotoGP news
Casey Stoner has performed out of the box in second pre-season test at Sepang International Circuit, February 22-24.
Stoner has marked the fastest lap-time of the three-day test of 2 minutes 59.665 seconds. This record also hold for the first and fastest ever rider ever on Sepang International Circuit.
“We knew after yesterday afternoon, with the times we did late in the day, that we could get into the '59s,” said Stoner. “But I also knew that I had to do a long run today and I didn't really want to wait until the end to go for a '59 in case it rained.
So I thought ‘right, we better do something in the morning.’”
Stoner was feeling quite comfortable in the morning as he started the practice on the third day and did not want to crash, so he just let the bike also run wide for a couple of times and still was able to hit those fast times.
“I think my first lap would have been my fastest, but the second lap ended up being a bit quicker. We were just happy to get under the two-minute barrier. That's what we were going for and with an ideal lap you could go probably low 1'59,” he said.
Stoner set a 1 minute and 59.665 second time on his second lap, as a day earlier he claimed that a couple of laps would be enough to break the two-minute barrier. Teammate Dani Pedrosa is the only rider following Stoner to lean in the ‘59s limits.
Pedrosa was 0.138 seconds slower. Pedrosa was also able to improve his timings through the test session. He also maintained the Repsol Honda duo for the whole second test session.
As the high performance executed by Honda riders, it led to a rumour that HRC is using Dual Clutch Technology, despite being banned by MotoGP regulations. HRC officials have denied the use of DCT but also revealed to the media that they have been using a
new system which provides with quicker gearshift.
