Honda rider Casey Stoner says he is not feeling very optimistic for Brno Grand Prix – MotoGP news
Casey Stoner of Repsol Honda says that he is not very optimistic about the upcoming Czech Republic Grand Prix following the crash he faced during the qualifying round of Indianapolis Grand Prix.
He said that the crash has left him with a serious problem in his ankle. He added that it was very fortunate that the majority of the turns in the last race were left therefore the weight was not on the problematic ankle.
Stoner said, “I'm not feeling too optimistic for Brno after a tough weekend in Indy. The crash in qualifying last week has left me with a serious problem in my ankle and we were fortunate that Indy was a left hand circuit, so a lot of the weight was off
it.”
Furthermore, he said that although the turns were left-wise, it was very painful when he changed his direction. He added that at Automotodrom Brno, there are a lot of right handed corners which will put a lot of weight on the affected ankle and hence will
be very difficult.
He added that it is very shameful as he likes the fast circuit at Brno. Moreover, he said that he will be resting a lot prior to race so that he may recover from the incident he faced last weekend.
“It's a shame as Brno is a circuit that I usually enjoy due to it's fast and flowing nature, so I'll be resting as much as possible this week and wait to see how we feel when we get on track on Friday,” Stoner said.
At the qualifying round of Indianapolis GP Stoner faced a severe accident resulting in a fractured bone in his right ankle and tore ligaments. He managed to finish the race at the fourth place. His medical team is reviewing his MRI scan and he will further
asses his fitness at the practice session of Czech Republic GP.
In Indianapolis GP, his teammate, Dani Pedrosa finished the race as winner.
His fans have their fingers crossed to see whether Stoner will be able to start the Czech Republic Grand Prix or not.
