  1. Centro America (Honduras, Costa Rica, El Salvador, Nicaragua, and Guatamala) declared themself independent from Spain on Sept 15th.

The Spanish had already lost Mexico and most of South America, so they knew it was inevitable.  They left not enough troops to do anything and withdrew them with independence.

The idea was to form a confederacy (Centro America.  Central America is a geographic designation that also includes Belize (UK) and Panama which was part of Colombia at the time.), but they just didn't come together.  Everyone wanted to rule themselves so they are 5 very independent states.

  2. Spain granted independence to Honduras, with the rest of the Central American provinces on September 15, 1821. In 1822 the United Central American Provinces decided to join the newly declared Mexican Empire of Iturbide. The Iturbide Empire was overthrown in 1823 and Central America separated from it, forming the Federal Republic of Central America, which disintegrated in 1838. As a result the states of the republic became independent nations.

  3. Spain granted Honduras its independence in September of 1821. No battle, just plain gave up all the provinces held in Central America.

  4. Simply given up! Spain granted Honduras its independence in September of 1821. No battle, just plain gave up all the provinces held in Central America.
