Question:

Honest opinion of my voice?

My husband wants me to sing in church and his family has been trying to get me to, too.. I'm nervous because (as most people) I really dislike my voice. I thought maybe I could just simply ask some (hopefully honest) strangers.. what do you think? Would I embarrass myself if I sang in front of the people at church?

This first one is me doing a duet with myself lol

  1. I am being really honest

    you are a good singer

dont be embarrased you have a pretty voice

  2. The brutal yet beautiful and honest truth? (as a morning show radio host says up here)

The second song was amusing, and the first song was charming, in that "written by a christian who knows nothing about the historical truth about christmas" kinda way.

But that's just the songs. I mean, they're country. *shrug*

As far as your voice goes, being a person who doesn't listen to country when I can avoid it (except for maybe some Garth Brooks), it seems like you stay on key except around where you do the country twang thing. It's really hard to pin down, and you seem to be right on as far as pitch-wise 99% of the time (which is really really good, actually), but there's something around the twang that seems just a little off. I don't know if that makes sense or not. I wish I could give you better advice on this, but my only thought is that maybe think your twang through as you sing it.

When you are doubling your voice, you double pretty well, except where (as you said) you must've gotten bored and kinda fallen off. =) Doubling sucks, it's not easy, and doing it correctly takes a lot of practice and discipline, but being able to do it well is a mark of professionalism.

Overall, I would say that you have a charming voice. I would definitely encourage you to sing for your church.... when you do just take a few deep breaths, close your eyes (if it helps), and find that place where you are comfortable, happy, and at one with your faith. You have the ability to do it... you just need to stand up there and do it already!

Have a good time, and don't forget to practice your material thoroughly... if you can perform your material without having to think about it, it helps, especially if you get nervous. Not that you should... you'll do just fine!

  3. You are awesome.  Don't be so shy.

  4. Pretty good!

  5. I'm going to be perfectly honest, cause well what's the point of lying to a stranger?

You have a beautiful voice. Good for choir and chorus but the potential of your voice is more than the actuality.

    I think it's probably because you're nervous.

You know when you can hear the nervousness in a person's voice?

    Just relax.

    Have confidence in yourself.

You're one of the few that actually has the potential to truly be great! =)

  6. I'm honest, I never lie on Yahoo Answers, so here's my opinion:

YOU ROCK! I think you should go on American Idol and get discovered or something. I would buy your CDs.

  7. Great Voice!
