Hi all! I am having my baby by induction in two days. My DH & I have decided on a name for our baby girl. I am just wanting to get some feedback on what everyone thinks of the name. Layla Ja' Nay (pronounced Juh-nay). Do you like it? Does the 1st & middle name flow? What comes to mind when you hear the name? Honest opinions would be appreciated. Thanks so much!

  1. What is the last name? I love Layla, not too fond of Ja'Nay, but its your child, and no one else has to like the name if you do and that is what you chose. Good luck with baby Layla and Congrats!

  2. Layla is cute but I much prefer the middle name spelled the classic way for that pronunciation, Janae.  Ja'Nay looks ghetto/immature. Sorry.

But I the sound of them flows fell together.

  3. Leila Janae, spelled the usual ways, might sound just as beautiful and be less confusing to pronounce and spell.  I like the flow.  I see a little olive skinned, brown eyed baby girl (a Leila who is now grown up, very self-sufficient and excellent speedskater).

  4. I like the spelling of Laila better. I also think Laila Jade is pretty :)

  5. I LOVE the name Layla. It sounds so pretty and flows really smoothly right off the tounge. Its one of my favorite names! Great job and congrats on your baby girl :)

  6. no layla. its extremely country and whenever i hear it i hear Robin Williams in Mrs. Doubtfire ... "LAYLA! GET BACK IN YOUR BED, DON'T MAKE ME GET THE HOSE!" but if your for country, its great! lol

  7. Layla is so pretty but ja Nay does not go with Layla at all.

  8. Layla is gorgeous. It sounds good with Ja'Nay, but you should really spell it Janae. You even had to say how Ja'Nay was pronounced, if it were spelled Janae, you wouldn't have that problem :)

    plus,

Layla Janae looks much better than Layla Ja'Nay...

  9. I like Layla Ja'nay together, although I prefer the spelling to be Jenay. Layla is very pretty.

  10. I really like Layla Ja'Nay!!! my friend just had a baby and she had

Layla, Lylah and Janaya on her list!!!

    they went with Lylah Grace

good luck and see on the day! xoxo

  11. I don't like Layla but I love the name Lyla or you can spell it Lilah. You should use Lilah Ja'Nay that is very pretty. I'm just not a fan of Layla b/c of Star Wars and she'll probably hear that her entire life. If you love it then stick with it. Good luck! : )

  12. I like Layla!  Another spelling is Leila.  I am not crazy about Ja'Nay, only because I don't like ANY hyphenated name, particularly not made up hyphenated names. (Sorry!) But Layla or Leila is stunning, original enough to stand out in the crowd, and strong enough to make her feel proud and independent.  I think of Leila Ali (I think that's how she spells it) who is gorgeous, intelligent, articulate and incredibly independent, all traits that are positive for a little girl entering into the 21st century!

    Good luck!

  13. The name Layla Ja'Nay flows when pronounced, but I dislike names with excessive punctuation, how about just Janay?  As for Layla, I always think of the Eric Clapton song.  I like the name because my family is middle eastern and the name is a popular arabic name that transfers well to american english.

  14. I really like Layla but ja'nay how about Danai or Danay. Congrats on little Layla

  15. I like Layla....

But I absolutley hate the middle name! What the heck are you thinking? Take that name back to the ghetto.

  16. layla is a cute name but not a big fan of the middle name, how about layla taylor. or layla maria. layla mary is also nice.  and also to be complety honest the two things that come to mind when i hear the name layla one is the the eric clampton song the other i think of the adam sandlers girlfreind in big daddy.

ps congrats on a child best wishes and god bless.

  17. I think that combo sounds beautiful together!
