Honest opinions about the media?

Do you think the American media tends to be more liberal or more conservative? Why?

Just curious.

A slight majority of media members lean to the liberal side, as opposed to the conservative side. There are two basic reasons for this:

1. Reporters are often a little more idealistic than most. They enter journalism in an effort to bring a little change into the world. That would be more liberal philosophy.

2. The news business likes change. New business starts up? Stock market goes way up or down? Cubs end 100 year jinx? Let's sell some papers. Conservative thought is a little more "anti-change."

The personal politics of most media practitioners probably leans a bit to the left. I don't believe that these personal beliefs are reflected in the coverage they produce.
