Honestly, How can anyone actually support Abortion?

Whether you think that you are "pro-choice", and not "pro-abortion", you still think abortions should be performed.

I have never heard a good reason why abortions should be legal. It seems that they only allow women who made poor choices an easy way out of their responsibilities. I am pro-choice, you have the choice to not have unprotected s*x. These are some of the reasons I have heard:

"If it were illegal, they would be performed in an unsafe and dangerous manner anyway."

Through this same logic, we should legalize murder because because they are legal, people do it anyway and they do it in an unsafe and painful manner. We should probably legalize theft too, people are going to steal things anyway and will probably do it in an unsafe and dangerous way.

"It is a woman's body, she has the right to do what she wants."

At the point at which another life is inside of you, it is no longer your body, it is their body. It is not a parasite, it is a living human being that will become a baby if left alone. An important aspect of of our humanness is the ability to control our bodies, but a more important aspect is our self discipline and morality.

"It is not life."

It breathes, it eats, it reacts to stimuli. It is life.

"The mothers life is more important."

Abortion is the most selfish thing I can think of. Women have abortions for many reasons, most of them dealing with "it will ruin my life", "I am not ready", "I cannot afford a child." Do you notice how all of these revolve around "I"? The life of an innocent baby is just a valuable as the life of the mother. Adoption is very viable alternative to abortion with many families wanting children.

"Anti-Abortion advocates are only so because of their religion."

I am atheist. Many Christians will not steal because it is against their religion. Would you legalize theft because most people against it are religious? Obviously not.

"The child's life will not be worth living, it will be full of suffering."

Frankly, who are you to decide the future of any person. You do not know this for sure and absolutely cannot gauge at what point a life would not be worth living for someone else. I cannot imagine any person in the United States that would choose non-existence over being born. People do commit suicide, but it is their choice to do so and no one else's. They are in the best position to make this decision.

Innocent life is the most valuable resource we have and it should be protected at all costs.

Protecting womens' lives in the case of a pregnancy endangering the mother's medical well-being. While the life of the baby is important, the need to protect the health of the mother should be foremost. However, this only accounts for less than 1% of abortions.

Pregnancies as a result of rape/incest. Answer: Adoption. While this is a tragedy, it would only make it worse to kill the innocent child who had no choice in how he was created.

I probably missed some reasons, but please enlighten me. Responsibility is the most important aspect of our humanity, with it morals, compassion, duty. honesty, honor are brought about. If you make a bad decision, it is your responsibility to deal with the consequences and not be given an easy way out. Abortion is just an easy way out for women that made poor decisions. It is wrong to kill innocent human life.

  1. Wow. Your first two paragraphs make me glad that no politicians will ever actually outlaw abortion.

  2. If the mother dies, the baby dies. Of course it is about the mother. She can do whatever to the baby. Smoke, drink, do drugs. But the baby cannot do anything about it. Abortions are not allowed until a few months before the due date. First off, the woman made choices to have s*x, then she can make choices to get an abortion. It is her body as the fetus grows it pushes the womans body parts together. Many things that can happen to a fetus that could possibly kill the mother and the fetus. If the mother dies the fetus dies as well so there goes that argument. In the beginning stages the fetus is not even close to the size or development of a normal child. It cannot do anything. The mother provides everything for the fetus nutrient wise. The fetus does not breath, it's nutrients come from the mother. Whatever happens, abortions will be performed, they have been performed for a long long long time, and if banned woman will still get them, but in unsafe means.

  3. If you don't like abortion don't have one.  Stay in your own small little world, and quit telling others how to live their life.

  4. Your right on the money. Murder is what you call it. 40 million innocent children slaughtered since those liberal bozo's allowed Roe vs. Wade. I can assure you. It will be overturned soon once Mr. McCain is in office and he can put judges on the bench who don't sanction murder. It's not a question of one's body because it's a body within a body, totally seperate with his or her own sey of DNA.. And your not self righteous for standing up for those who cannot stand up for themselves- the innocent unborn.

  5. I'm not supporting abortion

    I'm supporting a persons right to decide what to do with their body

    we control the government it isn't supposed to be controlling us.

    and that is just not the governments business

  6. I totally agree, and have answered similar questions with this answer;

    I'm going to break this issue down a bit, to help better understand;

    But when I answered with that, another answer edited his vote and explained why my answer isn't correct, now lets add his reasoning to my answers below;

    (He did not have a response for the last three of my answers)

    Here is what I responded back with, opposing his "R"s (R=reasons);

    Q: "Isn't it a womens right to choose, plain and simple?"

    A: I would say no, because it is not her body as many like to think, it is the baby inside her, not her body, thinking under that logic, would you also consider your son as your body, even after he's born, and since he's your body, you can have a right to choose what you do with him? A child is a living thing, not some "thing" in your body that you can do away with. Senator Joe Biden voted that there should not be an extra sentence for harming the life of an unborn child while committing a other crime, Sen. Biden voted "yes" on that, but he voted that he believes life begins at conception, just to point out.

    R (the other answers reason is the "R"): in Biden's case the woman suffers a loss of utility from the satisfaction of delivering a baby and raising a family. In the case of the abortion, the woman suffers a loss of utility from having the baby, as does society in many cases

    My response (to what he said above): But that does not give her the right to have an abortion.

    Q: "We dont know why she's doing it and its no ones buissness besides hers, is it?"

    A: That is also a failed logic. You could say that since her son that she can doing anything with, since it's her body, can also kill him after he was born if she wanted to, because that is no ones buissness besides hers. You see? That logic does not make sense. Yes, a women should be able to do anything she wants to her body, but an unborn, living child is not her body, as I aforementioned.

    R: it is her business if she kills her son: her son has friends who would miss him.

    My Response: Are you kidding me?! "it is her business if she kills her son:" That is insane, you are saying that murder is okay as long as the ones left behind don't mourn? Every human life is precious. So what if you had no family, nobody, no friends, nothing, should you be able to be killed without consequence?!

    As a side point, let me just ask you this? If a women should be able to do anything she wants to her body, considering the logic that an unborn baby is not living (which isn't right to start with, just following along with the logic to make a point), than why is it illegal to inhumanely abort the baby, and it's legal to humanely abort it, if it's not alive to begin with?

    R: because forcing the the mothers a humane abortion comforts them. This is good because if she knows she cannot support the baby but has it anyway because she believes it will feel pain, society is left with the burden. Also, this is an olive branch thrown the way of pro-lifers; making abortions humane is a small concession as opposed to not allowing any. It's not even a concession (pro-choicers don't derive utility from inhumane abortions)

    My Response: "because forcing the the mothers a humane abortion comforts them." I agree, and I'm not meaning to say that all mothers that abort think that a baby isn't alive, I'm mainly pointing that out to the ones that do think that, as a point. Society is also left with a burden for people on welfare, but we shouldn't just get rid of them because of it.

    Q: "The government shouldn't be telling women what they can or can't do with their body, should they?"

    A: To a certain extent they shouldn't, for example, them telling you that it is illegal to get a tatoo, that would be wrong, but this point that many pro-abortionist's like to make is failed because that 'extent' is broken, because it is a human life you are aborting, not some part of your own body.

    R: there is no one definition of life that is agreed on. Even if you say you are against taking all life, I imagine that you will kill a beetle without qualms. Pro-lifers make an untestable distinction then between sentient life and biological life which is as arbitrary as pro-choicers make between "part of a woman's body" and individual.

    My Response; A human life is more precious than an animal or insect. Would you let a human baby die to save a baby beetle?

    As a side point, If women should be aloud to do anything they want with their body, then why is it illegal to commit suicide?

    R: Earlier you mentioned that " Yes, a women should be able to do anything she wants to her body," did you not? Besides, a suicide victim has friends and family who would lose utility from her death.

    My Response: Yes, I did say that, but I also said "that 'extent' is broken, because it is a human life you are aborting, not some part of your own body." A women does have right to do what she wants with her body, to the extent that is doesn't kill a life, I should have said that along with it. Religiously and non-religiously, a life is precious, and is considered so, and should not solely be based around the "utility's" of others.

    Do you see how contradictory there arguement is?

    To sub, A person can kill another person, and the government has to stop it, although it may not be the governments buissness. Or would you rather them stay out of someones buissness, even if that buissness is murder?

  7. The reason being is because of side arguments-"Don't like it, don't have one!" (same argument used during the time when slavery was legal)

    "My body my choice"... well, yes, you do get to choose whatever you want to do with YOUR body, your baby's body however is another matter. I'm currently 26 weeks pregnant and feel my son kick and when he has the hiccups and can promise you, I don't have the hiccups when he does, I don't kick my foot when I feel him do it... ironically, he's a he and I'm a female (obviously, otherwise I wouldn't be pregnant)-so now, HOW would it be "my body, my choice" to get an abortion?

    Abortion is violent and intentionally is the setting out to take the life of a human being. BECAUSE we've applied all this nonsense about "trimesters... when can the baby feel pain... when is the baby 'viable' outside the womb...etc" we have dehumanized the VERY human baby that is a totaly seperate being from his or her mother. That is why only 23 chromosomes come from mom and likewise from dad. Because that is a NEW human life, NOT the mom's body.

    Abortion ends a life. By getting into all the smokescreen elements we lose sight of WHY we oppose it-it's murder. What's more, it's the MOST brutal form of murder. Even the things Hitler did during WW2 don't come close to what mom's pay "doctors" to do to THEIR CHILDREN, in the MOST helpless part of life. It is also a disservice to my gender because it treats us as if we're these little kids, totally not capable of choosing to wait to have s*x. As if we aren't strong enough to say no and that we are totally helpless to our hormones. How disgusting to treat women that way. What's more, it's so unnatural for a woman to allow someone to murder her child. That goes against EVERYTHING that is maternal/feminine...

    I don't understand how if it's NOT a human life/baby, then why would a woman even "need" to get an abortion? What's more, if life doesn't begin at conception, why do so take birth control and use "protection"? If it's not a human/baby, then you aren't pregnant. If it is, then it's murder.

    Add: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5q1YVFHIA...

    This is a video of VERY premature twins who survived even though they weren't supposed to. And the notion that the fact that a baby who is early along in the womb is unable to live on it's own should prompt us to want to protect him or her that much more-since when was helplessness a valid reason to END a human life? That is terrifying.

  8. Abortion = murder !

    its discusting . makes me sick.  i think its 100% WRONG!!!!!!!!!!!!

  9. In your case. yes.

    If it would've prevented you, we would all be better off.

    Clearly - you are a male, and your life isn't at risk.  Consider the position that if you sired a child, and the mother is at risk, and if she dies - you will be killed.  And if she suffers, you will be tortured to death.

    Now, reconsider.  And don't be a self-righteous coward.
