Most people have probably at least entertained the thought of suicide, especially when life isn't treating them well.  But relatively few actually think about it seriously enough to attempt it.

Read some books on the issue, it is natural for persons to fantasize about self-mutilation and other ways of death, for instance, if I think of how it would feel for a bullet to rip through my skin and body, or be run over by a steam roller.
