Amelia was ranked #77 by popularity in the US in 2007 and it's been getting more popular. But it's had fairly consistent popularity for a long time -- it was ranked #108 in 1888. So it's well-liked but not trendy.

Emma is way too popular and trendy right now, I agree.

Anika is my favorite. I love girl names that end in "ka", that's just my taste though. It's your taste that counts. I think you couldn't go wrong with Anika or Amelia. Amelia rolls off the tongue nicer but Anika is less syllables. Both go with your last name.

PS: Annika is the most common spelling. You might want to consider it.

I'm James also, My wife wants to name a Girl "Jaymes", so that's a good choice.

My sister named her boy (now 4 years old) "Coulter" (is that your last name?)

"Anika" sounds good in my head...I'd say that was a good choice also....

When put together.. "Anika Jaymes" (Coulter of course) It sounds Great...Very nice rolling off the tounge....

If you don't use it, I think the wife and I will...lol....

I honestly don't like the name Anika. I would go with either Emma or Ameila because they sound better even though they are common.

James is a boy's name. If you're having a girl why not tell your husband If you have a son you can name HIM after him.

Annika June or Annika Jamie is cute if you wanted to stick to James somewhat.

I personally like Annika June the best but it's up to you.

I prefer the spelling Annika. It's not very common which is good.

I dislike Jaymes, I don't think the 'y' makes it look more feminine. Jamesina is a Scottish form of James, what do you think?

James is a man's name, and adding a "y" does not make it a girl's name.  It just makes it tacky.

You could try a middle name that sounds like James, such as Jane; at least it'll be a real, venerable name.

Oh, and I think Amelia is a better choice than Anika, only because if her name is Anika she'll have to go through life telling people how to spell her name.  They're both nice though.

I don't know of too many girls with the name Amelia. I really like that name. I like it a lot better then Anika. Anika reminds me of Alaska and sounds like a state name to me.

I agree that Emma is way too common.

I really like Amelia Jaymes. I think that it's very beautiful and if she ever became an actress she can use her middle name as a last name if she wanted to.

Anika is GREAT.  Emma and Amelia are just waay over used.  I don't normally like male names for females, but Jaymes looks cute and has a meaning.  It reminds me of Jamie, which I always liked for a girl
