  1. Try to do something with terrariums to illustrate how plants clean the air... maybe get some pH test strips (or other methods of testing) and take readings with them in the enclosed environment to simulate an ecosystem. Maybe do one with tropical stuff, another with your normal yard grass and oak/pine seedlings, and maybe a third with a desert. Measure all the water usage, temperature, etc, and log them in a book.

You can make terrariums out of used aquariums or those big round fishbowls.

  2. you need your topic to relate to yourself and not be someone elses dream. Think of something you are interested in and a common myth about it or idea. Like I love field hockey and say I'm interested in the myth that when your stomach is cold people on my team says that means your burning calories. So then take that idea and pull it apart. Do some research on your question. Try an experament. And in the end try to explain why or why not this idea is true

  3. I have never been in a science fair but I found a site that might help...

    http://www.scifair.org

  4. Heat loss/retension. Try making a small, box like construction, or even a box (preferably from fireproof material) and place a constant heat source within, say an electric bar heater. Install a rod thermometer on the box and insulate the exterior of the box with different types of insulating material and monitor and record which insulating material retains the heat the longest. A few examples would be, rockwool, glasswool, polystyrene, urethane, aluminium/foil faced urethane.

  5. I won my science fair by comparing the fat content in all the most popular fast food burgers! :)

It was kinda fun.. we analysed the contents in the regular burgers from McDonalds, Wendy's, Harvey's, and Burger King.

Hope that might help.. what ever you decide, good luck!!
