Ive been swimming since August of 2006, so about 1 1/2 years here are my top times:

50 yard free- 24.6

100 yard free- 54.6

100M free- 1:02:36

is it worth it to keep on swimming?

if so when do you think ill get to these times:(based on this: I swim for high school and club, and i swim three times a day in the summer, about 10-15,000 yards/meters a day)

50 yard free- 22.7

100 yard free- 49.6

50M free- 25.7

100M free- 56.3

  1. There is value in going out there and doing your best. I just started swimming at age 37. I started in August of last year. I'd kill for your times. I can't do THE best, but I can do MY best. Your times are great. Why stop? The number one limiting factor to an athlete is their beliefs of their limitations. You can get faster if you believe that you can. Stand on the deck everyday and tell yourself, "There is no one faster than me." I swear it will work.

  2. keep it up...especially theres an indoor place where you can do it during the winter.

    btw nice swim times :)

  3. If your good at it than yes

  4. yes it is worth to keep on swimming. those times are freakishly good and there is no reason to give it up. you need to believe in your self and you will go well! good luck

btw, what made you want to give up swimming?

  5. those are really good times you should keep swimming....

  6. dont quit. thats really not all that bad... try weight traing to increase your speed but i would stick with it

  7. You're talking about some major time drops there and besides that 3-a-days might be too much for a high school kid like you.

With the 50 yard free that's not that bad, you could do it in a half year if you really work at it, the 50 free is a perfectionist swim; mess up something and your whole swim is ruined so fine-tune everything for that and you should be alright. But as for your 100 yard free it takes a lot to go from the mid 50's to just into 40-land, that will likely take at least another year, if not more. Same thing with the 50 meter, you're talking significant time drops no matter how hard you work your body, I'd say for that one don't expect that drop within 1 year and change. But the 100 meter is actually pretty good, I've seen some kids pull off drops like that in just under a year so it's not too bad, not like the 100 meter.

Overall I would say if swimming is a priority for you keep swimming but if it's not a priority quit while you're not really into it. If you move on and become this big staple for your team and then have to quit it's not going to be pretty. Also, as a high school kid you have to balance academics as well. I quit my high school track & field team mainly because my grades were plumitting (I went from a solid B to an A- for my year's average in 3 weeks) and because of other things like time commitment and other things like that. Just think things through, talk with people about it and make what you conclude is the best decision.

  8. Definitly keep swimming, your times are pretty fast.

If you train your a ss off in the summer, almost everyday, then you could hit those times, especially once you hit the high school season and start competing more often.  If you only swim three times a week, then you should research some excerises that will help you build the right muscles for swimming.

49 for a hundo is fast, but if you want to go that time, and put in the work, it is not unrealistic.  Good Luck.

  9. WOAH!!! thats awesome! i pray 4 a 29 in a 50 free! but if u keep on practicing, u will get much better, escpecially w/that kinda practice!
