Honestly..what is your major, and why you choose it...? good and bad about it?

Mine is Social Policy after dithering around with Psychology for a while. I have opted for Social Policy because it and I just "clicked". It's a subject I do well in, which is a good enough reason in itself, but I reckon I do well because I genuinely love the subject. Being 40 is also a bit of an advantage as I have personal experience of a lot of the recent developments in social policy.... I don't need Thatcherism explained to me twice... been there cursed the ********* :o))  It took two attempts at University, both times with Psychology, before I found my niche and my area of strength.

my major is speech and hearing science..i chose it b/c my grandma had a stroke and becasue of it she wasn't able to speak...the stroke caused the part of her brain that allows her communicate (move lips for sounds) to impaired..and after just afew days, the speech pathologist at the hospital was able to correct that..before you know it she was talking again..she never did talk as good as she use to due to some irrepairable damages but she was able to communicate..until then i never knew how talking could be such a privilege...the good thing about it : i get to help people and witness the gradual effects...you can't do them harm..they're all word and picture associations and excersizes..the downsize: its taking me forever!..not only are the classes tough..but i have to get a masters and i have to get certification...its so much work!..if i get out with just my bachelors most likely i won't get a job..its one of those careers where its all or nothing...those kind of majors and careers really do suck..after paying for 4 years of college i should be guaranteed a job, don't u think? instead, i must go to grad school and then go through certification as well..if not then ive wasted 4 years of my life on nothing.
