Question:

Honey as mouse bait?

So I am trying to bait some non lethal mouse traps. I used peanut butter the first time and was able to catch one mouse, but he got away. This time I am using a different trap, but with the same bait. But the mice havn't even come near the trap, and it's been 4 hours. Last time they came around in just 45 minutes. Is it because they know now to stay away from peanut butter? Shoul I use a different bait? I was thinking maybe honey. Right now i have a mix of cheese, seeds, and peanut butter. What's new that i can try to attract the mice?

  1. candy and bread work fairly well.

  2. peanutbutter

  3. Peanut butter works great, but if they know its a trap, they may stay away from it.

I would try using bread, chocolate or oats. Another thing thy are attracted to is nesting material such as toilet paper, card board or sod dust.

Rats like bacon, fruits, vegetables, cereals, and meats, so I'd say mice might too. ^.^

    Hope this helped! =^.^=

  4. Maybe some hot dog weenies dipped in a little bit of parmesan cheese battered with mustard seed served with a light cream sauce and side salad?

  5. I used peanut butter and the old fashioned type trap, and caught over 21 mice in about 2 hours. They ranged from very small to the large ones. ( the pest control guy said it was the whole litter.) Watch to see what hole they are coming from or what trail and set the trap next to that. And mice usually come out at night better than daytime. Give it more time.
