Do you think a honeymoon in the first week of Oct. at this location will be good to go still eventhough Dean has hit it? Cancun is about 40 miles north and it does not look to bad. Any experiences with travel and hurricanes other than travel insurance?

  1. It may take a week or two to clean up, but by October, everything should be back to normal.  I've heard that Cancun and Playa del Carmen go through it pretty much unscathed.

  2. All I'll say is we went after and there was no security at the hotel, food was hard to come by, and NONE of the boats were operating.

  3. I just got back from a trip across the Yucatan peninsula, from Cancun, Tulum, Chetumal , Campeche, ending in Cozumel. We followed "Dean" across the peninsula for 2 days.

There was no long term damage from "Dean" except for the severe damage to all the fruit tress and crops.  The Electrical and telephone Grid did have some damage but not the worst I have seen.  The big cities did have some damage but nothing more than cleanup and minor repair.

You won't even know there was a hurricane by October, Congratulations and best wishes.
