  1. HI,,, I suggest Vienna myself.. but there are plenty of other sites also.....

    good luck

  2. what a chance!

my parents spent their honeymoon in Austria, well :( actually on the German border.

They stayed in Füssen (you know what? the Disneyland castle was directly inspired from Newschanstein, which is just close to the border ; it's also 60 km away from Salzbourg)

my parents really enjoyed Salzburg, but at the time, they resented the Austrians' francophobia...

but sure, don't worry, they like Americans and Britons!

    and congratulations!

  3. I would say this depends on the season and what you and your spouse-to-be like to do. If your honeymoon will be in winter, you might want to spend time in some of the great Austrian ski areas - alpine or nordic.  If you don't ski, you might like to have your honeymoon in the warmer months.  When it's warm, then there are options that include golf, boating, hiking, wine, outdoor concerts, etc.   If you like medieval things, there are some great options available in that area too.  Medieval markets, armories, etc.

  4. You can't go wrong in Austria - lots of things to do and see, the scenery is beautiful and the people are very friendly.

Your honeymoon is very important so to avoid any problems and to make things easiest on the two of you, please contact a good travel agent who will plan a nice trip for you.  Don't let the agent push you into a bus tour of Austria - the age group is too old and you won't have any time to yourselves,  If the agent won't plan a custom trip for you, look for another. Once you've found a good agent, don't let him/her go.

    Congratulations!

  5. I'm quite young but have traveled alot and simply love Austria!

I've been there 3 times and I can suggest you to go to Innsbruck, Salzburg, Vienna, Klagenfurt, Velden, Linz and anyway all the places have lovely scenery, and very romantic. On the mountains the panoramic view is simply breath taking!! Villages are also nice and people are very welcoming. And also if you want you can stay in places which are not so far from Germany and go to Munich and places in Germany as well...although I suppose on a honeymoon you'd prefer staying on one of the Austrian alps or mountains....an believe me they will make you miss them once you go back home!!!

  6. Innsbruck - do a cablecar ride on the mountains, then a visit to the city... a visit to the Swarovski factory

Salzburg - the Mondsee lake (a nice paddle/motorboat ride), Halstatt Ice Caves, Mirabell Gardens, the city

Vienna - the Opera, Casino Baden (in the outskirts), the parliament... a lot more, once you get there.

Remember to take a pair of formal wear with you for entry into the opera/casino/top notch restaurants... ie, no sport shoes, only full suit or national costume acceptable.

also, when outside vienna, make sure you stay in a "gasthof" and not a hotel - these are austrian cottages converted to guesthouses, and are much friendlier, cleaner, cheaper and comfortable than hotels. you will find that breakfast will always be included (if its not, get it...), which is a must have while in austria
