Question:

Honeymoon suggestions??

I need some ideas for a honeymoon destination. We are getting married in May of '09. We both hate hot weather and I know most places in the South are blazing when late May/early June arrives. We live in Mississippi by the way. Unfortunately, it is not possible to change the date. We are open to flying or driving. Any ideas??

  1. I was going to suggest Trinidad and Tobago but since you hate hot weather I should suggest Alaska. It is very nice. Research it on the net before making any decisions.

  2. I'm getting married in May of 2009 as well and we are doing an Alaskan cruise..i know someone who just came back from one and they said it was very pretty..

  3. You wouldn't think so, but Hawaii is not that bad during the summer.  I'm from Indiana, and it was defiantly hotter in Indiana than in Hawaii at the end of June.  It is warm, but usually fairly cloudy and it averaged 86 I think, but with very little humidity.  I really don't like when you can't even go outside because you can't breathe and start sweating, but it really wasn't like that at all.  Hope this helps, I know it's still warm, but I don't feel like it is nearly as bad as Florida, the Carolinas, Texas, etc.

  4. How about traveling around Europe? Pretty moderate temperatures there around the UK,  the Mediterranean area will be hotter, though.

  5. Go somewhere you normally wouldn't.

I.e. go to Canada see Niagra Falls, or the Rockies, and stay up in a Condo, even one or two days at an extreme rpice is sometimes worth it in those glacier palces where you have to be flown in by helicopter.

And although no one wants to incrue debt, think of it this way, you only get married once (well hopefully) and so do things you might not normally do. (ie. my wife and I splurged on this dinner cruise when we were in France, and when I say splurged IT WAS RIDICULOUS expensive, but totally worth the $$ in the end)

  6. I think somewhere in europe would be great.  The temps are average and there is alot of history to see there.  plenty to look at.  or why not try Canada (yay...thats where I'm from)  Niagara falls is great, Toronto is fun if you like shopping and baseball, or try the mountains out in Banff.

  7. Hi! I don't really know whether or not you are the "keep it simple" kind of person or not, but the United States has a lot of really beautiful places in it to go for honeymooning. I have always wanted to go to the Mediterranean for my honey moon, but for now my fiance and I have decided to go and spend some time at the Finger Lakes in New York. It is absolutely gorgeous and refreshing. I'm not the woodsy outdoor kind of person either.. it has some really nice "city people" accomodations. Alaska is always beautiful as well as Colorado and Parts of California like SF. But going outside of the states.... maybe try something really different not cliche, something that really screams you and your fiance...

  8. Drive up to Tennessee and rent a cabin in the mountains. It's so private, it's amazing! And it's not too hot in Gatlinburg in June.

We booked with www.volunteercabinrentals.com and they were great to work with. We had absoluvely NO neighbors and loved the cabin we picked!
