Honeymoon suggestions?

I was wondering if anyone had suggestions about where my fiance and I should go for our honeymoon. Our wedding is November 28th, 2009 and we want to go somewhere beautiful where we can both relax and/or sightsee. It might also be helpful to say that I personally don't want anything involving theme parks or rollercoasters.

  1. HAWAII!!!!

Kuaui is b-u-tiful and has less tourists for relaxing a bit more (there's an atv tour that's nice on this island too). Maui is just as gorgeous, but it has more traffic, and there's a bit more to do (horse back riding, snorkeling, dinner cruises, shopping, hiking, etc.)

It's definitely worth the plane ride - no matter where you're flying from! =)

  2. Cancun Palace, of the Palace Resorts chain - it's all inclusive!  Also, They have these amazing Presidential suites, but you have to have a time share there to book these rooms.  We found a travel agent that could get us in there.  Good Luck!

  3. punta cana i heard is beautiful , reasonable and relaxing.  All inlcusive also.  Have fun!

  4. I've heard good things about these places from friends who actually vacationed there:

    1. St. Lucia

    2. Jamaica

    3. Aruba

  5. I'm going put my two cents in and say that I, personally, think that the honeymoon should be something that doesn't involve too much travel. My fiance and I originally wanted to go to Hawaii, of course, but we're having a destination wedding (live in Chicago, getting married in NY), so we decided to go low-key and honeymoon in Vermont for five days (about a two-hour drive from our wedding site) and then drive to Manhattan for two days (we used to live nearby, and had one of our first dates there), so we're kind of recreating memories. I don't know how couples who travel to Europe and Figi do it. The wedding is so stressful, and I want low-key for a week! Hikes, picnics, massages, breakfast in bed, dinners fireside, etc. For us, it'll be our ideal honeymoon.

If you're not really a nature person (we like country escapes), or want warm weather, then I would suggest Key West. Inexpensive, don't need a passport, easy to get to for the most part and it's totally relaxing. I've never been there, personally, but I know many people who have, and they say it's just the best place to unwind and slow down.

Not sure if that helps, but congratulations and good luck!

  6. We did a national park--Yosemite in California.  My only advice would be to not pick somewhere that's "once in a lifetime".  You're going to be worn out from the wedding and don't want to go somewhere that you'll have to constantly be on the go because you don't want to miss anything.  I had a friend go to Rome and she was miserable because she'd never been and wanted to see everything and her new husband just wanted to take naps.  Maybe pick somewhere like San Francisco or Chicago where there are things to see, but you can relax too.  Just depends on what you like.  My husband and I are nature people but don't do well in the sun so all the tropical locations weren't even considered.

  7. Consider going to Fiji it's more affordable than the cookie cutter resorts and magnificent. Here is a list of great fiji trips you'll sure to love from Adventure Brat.
