  1. You haven't asked a question about it, but if it's just general comments you're looking for then I can only offer my condolences to the victim's families.

I must add here that Lenny's advice is probably well worth remembering when going on holiday.

  2. Horrible yes, but what questions does it raise. You haven't even posted one.

  3. Where's your question about it?

It's a very very sad event and a nightmare for the families involved but I don't see what's to be asked about it particularly.  They were shot and killed (as it looks like he'll die unfortunately) in a robbery.  I guess they didn't have as much as the robbers thought they'd have hence the ordeal they had to go through first.  I just hope they didn't try to not give in to the robbers.

Places like this you should always leave your valuables and money in full view on a table when you're sleeping as if anyone breaks in they'll just take it and hopefully go without disturbing you.  If they break in and don't see anything you're in trouble.

    Awful.

  4. alot of blacks there so there is naturally alot of crime.

  5. Define major.

People get shot every day, sometimes in 'safe' tourist places.

It's not major news just because it happened.

  6. Events like that should sure end tourism there.  Money talks.

  7. And what is your question??

In the scheme of things I wouldn't agree it is a major event.

  8. Yes it's a tragedy. Let the parents grieve in peace without any rhetoric or non questions like yours.

  9. It's a terrible tragedy and it was covered extensively on the news (Sky & BBC) throughout yesterday. But you have to put these things in context. Innocent young people are being shot and blown up in India and Iraq and Afghanistan every day, and millions of children die of preventable diseases every year. Though the story of the honeymooners is very sad, it is not as much a "major current event" as, say, the bombing in Istanbul or the transfer of Karadzic to the Hague. We focus too much on individual tragedies in our midst these days - the McCanns being the prime example.

  10. Another soldier shot in Afghanistan, so why is the Antigua incident so important?

  11. Sorry, although obviously tragic I do not believe that this is a major news story. If the newspapers reported every murder and killing they may as well print the stories with the blood of the dead.

  12. It seems the losers on here are more interested in the old McCaan story.

  13. people get shot daily,  who cares

  14. This is the Caribbean where holiday makers are generally confined to the grounds of their hotels because it is not safe anywhere else. But this adds another dimension to things when you are not even safe within the walls of the hotel complex. It is not a place I would go on my holidays!
