Honeymooning in Mexico. Any suggestions where exactly???

We're getting married in October and looking at honeymooning in Mexico (East coast, mayan riviera I think its called). We are pretty much set on the area of somewhere between Cancun on the northern part of the land mass and as south as tulem.

We were thinking of somewhere in the middle, which would be around playa del carmen. Any suggestions of where to go?

So far here are a couple resorts considering: (keep in mind northern is cancun, then going south is playa del carmen down to tulum.)

1. Aventura Spa Palace (south of playa del carmen)

2. El Dorado Seaside Suites (South of playa del carmen)

3. El Dorado Royale Resort & Spa (South of Cancun)

3. Secrets Moroma Beach Riviera Cancun (South of Cancun)

6. Secrets Capri Riviera maya cancun (south of cancun)

4. The Royal Playa Del Carmen ( Just north of Playa del carmen)

5. Excellence Riviera Cancun (south of cancun)

*if anyones been to any of these or knows the area south of cancun and across from cozumel let me know.

  1. My husband just came back from staying at the Aventura Spa Resort for our honeymoon. 5/16-5/23/2008. It was awesome. The service is great. It is hot but there are places to cool down at like your room, lobbys, the water. There's  the south side and the north side, the south side is for the parties, the north side is more quiet and it has the spas. I totally recommend doing the holistic spa massage(50min). That resort does a honeymoon package where you get t shirts and a reservation at the rest. of your choice and champagne. Although, if you eat dinner early, you really don't need reservations. The Japanese rest. was awesome. The steak at the La Hacienda was better than the steak at the steakhouse rest. Remember that the rest. that start with La, are the ones that have casual dress codes, just pants & collared shirts for guys. There are 3 rest. like that. The rest of them, you can go into with your bathing suit if you want.

We did the dolphin excursion, totally recommend it. We went to Paradise Island to do the snorkeling. You don't need an underwater camera. They have people taking pics for you. It was great. Food was awesome at every place you eat at. Breakfast buffets at all rest. at Aventura. But you can do snorkeling at Aventura too. It's better at Paradise Island, you go off a boat and there are lots more fish to see.

We did the Chitzen Itza tour, where you go to the Mayan Pyramid. It was awesome, very very hot, and it was an ALL day trip. (Take food to munch on for the bus ride.)

It was nice that Aventura was an all inclusive adults only resort. If you want peace & quiet, you can have it, if you want party party party, you can have it too.

We have never been to a resort or Cancun before so it was really nice.

    Pack light!

Just remember that it's your honeymoon and after the hectic planning of the wedding it's nice to just do NOTHING!!! Enjoy and happy honeymoon hunting!

  2. What a loser that guy was! Well My husband and I honeymooned at Dreams Cancun Resort and Spa and it was amazing. All inclusive and just off the hotel and party district.  We are returning for our anniversary on Sunday!! Have fun!! Remember...loads of sunscreen!

  3. I'd like to mount a campaign to encourage people not to go anywhere. Travel has become so expensive and unpleasant that it's hard to understand why people don't stay home.

Why are we crowding our highways and airports to get someplace else? Newspapers and magazines are filled with ads trying to get us to travel. They want us to go somewhere - anywhere but home.
