  1. I travel everywhere.. and I found the staff in HK to be helpful. Just approach them and ask.

When I'm in transit, I don't check in, I just go to transfers. I shop and walk around till it's around an hr or 2 before my flight, in which i just walk myself to the gates.

Good luck. I love that airport!

  2. When you arrive at HKIA you will need to transit to the departure level from the arrivals level. There are many transfer points where you will need to show your passport and boarding pass and go through another security check for your flight to Manila. You will receive two boarding passes at LAX and your luggage will be forwarded all the way through to Manila, no need to check-in again in HK. Cathay will either show you on the in-flight entertainment system which gate your flight will be departing from, or you can check the many message boards in the airport. Once you reach the departures level, you are in the transit or transfer area and will have access to tons of shopping and restaurants. There is no economy class lounge for Cathay or any airline, only business class and 1st class lounges. Just find your gate and be there no later than 20 minutes before your flight leaves and you should be fine, Cathay Pacific personnel are all over the HK Airport if you need help and they also show a video on the plane that describes what you need to do after you arrive in HK. Good luck.
