Hong Kong Open 2012: Hans Kristian Vittinghus trounces Sony Dwi Kuncoro in first round encounter
Hans Kristian Vittinghus, a talented shuttler from Denmark, lived up to expectations as he played tremendous badminton and defeated his higher ranked challenger Sony Dwi Kuncoro of Indonesia in Men’s Singles first round of Yonex Sunrise Hong Kong Open 2012
on Wednesday, November 21, in Hong Kong.
The World Number 24 Vittinghus, who is an un-seeded played in Men’s Singles main draw of the tournament, played with remarkable precision and managed to crush Kuncoro who has been positioned at number 14 in the world.
Vittinghus has been showing a steady progress in his game as he displayed his impressive skills in the arena and remained successful in beating his Indonesian rival in straight games with a huge margin by consuming just 28 minutes on court.
On the contrary, the higher ranked Kuncoro was stunned by the hostile treatment that he received from his lower ranked Danish rival. He failed to put up strong show in the arena and eventually crashed out in Men’s Singles first round with a humiliating margin
on the board.
In the starting game, the aggressive Vittinghus delivered an unmatched show on court as he played shots with deception from opening rallies.
The planned and positive play of Vittinghus helped him to stay in complete control of rallies and he did not let his challenger to put up good show.
Until the one-minute interval, the aggressive Vittinghus remained successful in creating a phenomenal lead on score board.
After the break, Kuncoro tried his best to put up strong show but failed to stay positive in the arena and remained struggling in taking the bird early from all areas of the court.
On the other hand, Vittinghus did not slow down the pace of the game at any stage and comfortably clinched the first set with a one-sided 21-10 score on the board.
In the second set, the tempo of the game remained high and the Danish shuttler did not lose his focus at any stage. He remained successful in taking a wonderful lead until the break.
After the one-minute interval, the lofty Vittinghus continued putting up spectacular show of top quality badminton and managed to end up the second set with a crushing 21-14 score on score board.
Vittinghus easily ended up this Men’s Singles opening round match in straight games with a superb margin of 21-10 and 21-14.
