Hong Kong Open 2012: Wang Lin topples Kwan Yi Mong in Women’s Singles qualifying round
China’s talented female shuttler Wang Lin showed her elevated craft in the arena by playing with remarkable precision and managed to defeat Hong Kong’s Kwan Yi Mong in Women’s Singles qualifying round at Yonex Sunrise Hong Kong Open 2012 on Tuesday, November
20, in Hong Kong.
The in-form Lin, who has been proving her mettle in the arena for the last couple of years, played with tremendous precision and managed to end up the winning run of her local challenger in just 29 minutes.
Chinese shuttler displayed a spectacular show of attacking badminton and remained in complete control of rallies.
The finishing touch in Lin’s shots was the major factor that earned her a stunning victory in straight games with a one-sided margin in straight games.
On the other hand, Kwan Yi failed to stay focused in the arena and also could not live up to the expectations of her home fans.
Local shutter was in all sorts of trouble while playing against her Chinese opponent and lost to her without even getting close on score board.
The incredible speed and powerful shots of Lin helped her to take control of the pace of opening set from the initial points.
Lin was quite quick in creating gaps in her rival’s court and she did not face any problem in hitting her strokes in targeted areas.
The impressive Lin easily dictated the pace of rallies in all areas of the court and stayed miles ahead of her challenger until the one-minute break.
After the mid-game interval, the local shuttler tried her best to play positive badminton but she failed to match the speed of Lin and remained struggling in the arena.
In the meanwhile, Lin remained consistent in employing well directed smashes in all corners of the court and managed to bag the opening game with a superb 21-12 score on the board.
In the second set, the lofty Lin did not lose her superiority as she kept a firm grip over the pace of rallies and again took a wonderful lead until the break.
After the interval, the in-form Lin continued her smooth ride without facing any problem and grabbed the second set with a superb total of 21-13.
Lin emerged as the winner in this Women’s Singles qualifying round battle in straight games with a staggering 21-12 and 21-13 score on the board.
