Hong Kong Open 2012: Wang Yihan knocks out Kaori Imabeppu to ease into Women’s Singles second round
China’s Wang Yihan, who is the top seeded player in the tournament, eased into Women’s Singles second round after defeating Japan’s Kaori Imabeppu in first round encounter at Yonex Sunrise Hong Kong Open 2012 on Wednesday, November 21, in Hong Kong.
The impressive Yihan, who is ranked at the top in Women’s Singles category in the world, put up spectacular show of top class badminton and, after a little wobble, overpowered her Japanese rival in just 35 minutes.
Chinese shuttler worked really hard in winning the first set of this match but she did not face any trouble in the following set and easily registered a comprehensive win over Imabeppu in straight sets with a comfortable margin.
On the contrary, the un-seeded Imabeppu could not show her brilliance as she failed to put up positive show of top class and aggressive badminton and remained unable to stop her Chinese rival from winning the match in an easy fashion.
It was a wonderful fight in the initial points when Yihan showed attacking display of her craft on court.
The highly elevated craft and wonderful strategy assisted Yihan to put her challenger in all sorts of trouble in the arena.
Top seeded Yihan advanced with a terrific speed in the starting part and remained in lead on score board until the break when she was ahead at 11-8.
After the mid-game break, Yihan was focused in the arena and remained successful in keeping a reasonable difference.
Yihan continued executing powerful strokes in targeted areas and managed to bag the opening game with a sound margin of 21-19.
Chinese lady did not lose her control at any stage in the first half of second game as she played with confidence and precision.
Yihan entertained the crowd with her tremendous craft that assisted her to keep pressure on her opponent and set up an 11-4 lead until the one-minute break.
After the interval, the lofty Yihan continued her power play and grabbed the second set with a staggering margin of 21-9.
The in-form Yihan emerged as the winner in this Women’s Singles first round battle in straight sets with a crushing 21-19 and 21-9 score on the board.
