Hong Kong’s Yan Kit Chan showed a wonderful performance in the Men’s Singles qualifying round and ousted his higher ranked opponent R. M. V. Gurusaidutt of India at the Yonex Sunrise Hong Kong Open 2012 in Hong Kong, on Tuesday, November 20.
The in-form local shuttler, who is un-seeded in the main draw of the tournament, lived up to the expectations of his home fans and ended up the winning run of Gurusaidutt without losing any game in 42 minutes.
Hong Kong shuttler was in tremendous form in front of local crowd as he played with staggering speed and remained successful in winding up this qualifying round contest in straight sets with a reasonable margin.
On the other hand, the third seeded Gurusaidutt also gave a good fight to his local opponent in both games but he could not dictate the pace of rallies in the ending points and eventually lost the match with a respectable margin.
The impressive speed and attacking play of Yan Kit favoured him to take charge of the pace of rallies from the initial points of first game.
Yan Kit showed that he has got top class skills on court and eventually successful in taking a strong domination in the arena.
Yan Kit proceeded with a terrific speed in the starting half and remained in lead on score board until the interval.
Gurusaidutt tried to put up strong resistance but remained unable to take charge of rallies and remained trailing in the concluding half.
Yan Kit remained consistent in employing powerful smashes in targeted areas and managed to bag the first set with a stunning score of 21-18.
In the second set, Yan Kit played with stunning speed without leaving any room for Gurusaidutt to get a good rhythm.
The perfectly executed smashes and net killings kept Yan Kit ahead of his challenger all the way until the one-minute break in second game.
Yan Kit was calm and positive on court in the concluding points of second set and grabbed the second set with a stunning margin of 21-19.
The local shuttler won this Men’s Singles qualifying round contest in straight sets with a 21-18 and 21-19 score on the board.
