Hong Kong Open: Chris Adcock and Andrew Ellis secure first round victory in Men’s Doubles category
England’s experienced players Chris Adcock and Andrew Ellis found a good start as they ousted India’s Tarun Kona and Arun Vishnu in Men’s Doubles first round at Yonex Sunrise Hong Kong Open 2012 on Wednesday, November 21, in Hong Kong.
The in-form Adcock and Ellis, who are un-seeded players in the main draw of the championship, put up aggressive show and stayed positive all the way and ended up this opening round clash in just 31 minutes.
Adcock and Ellis were in staggering form on court as they did not show any mercy to their Indian rivals and remained successful in winding up this contest in straight games with a convincing margin on score board.
On the other hand, Tarun and Arun failed to put up strong show as they failed to control the pace of rallies at the crucial stages in the contest and eventually lost the set without taking away any game from their English rivals.
Adcock and Ellis played with phenomenal control in their shots from opening points of first game and remained in tremendous control of rallies.
Adcock and Ellis kept the pace of rallies at the maximum level and they stayed positive on court until the end of opening half.
After the break, Adcock and Ellis stayed focused in the arena as they did not lost their focus and remained successful in keeping a sound gap on the board.
The in-form English shuttler continued executing powerful smashes in targeted areas and they eventually bagged the first set with a three-point advantage of 21-18.
In the second game, the Indian shuttlers tried to gear up their speed but failed to play positive badminton in starting half as their rivals were in complete control of rallies.
Adcock and Ellis were quite incredible on court as they played with complete control and remained successful in setting up a huge lead until the end of opening half.
After the break, Adcock and Ellis continued their positive play without showing any mercy to their rivals and wrapped up the set with a superb 21-14 score on the board.
The in-form English players managed to win this opening round battle in straight sets with a dominating margin of 21-18 and 21-14.
