Hong Kong Open Super Series: Tien Chen Chou trounces Jan Frohlich to enter into main round
Chinese Taipei’s talented shuttler, Tien Chen Chou advances into Men’s Singles main round as he has trounced Czech Republic’s Jan Frohlich in the qualifying round battle of the 2011 Hong Kong Open Super Series, in Hong Kong, on Tuesday, November 15.
Tien Chen has elevated his skill level by playing top class badminton for the last six months. He delivered phenomenal performance against the Frohlich in the final contest of qualifying round and crushed him in straight games without showing any mercy at
all.
The first game of this Men’s Singles match started in an interesting style when both players remained toe-to-toe for a few rallies. However, the Taipei shuttler played fast badminton as the match progressed and remained successful in taking a comfortable
lead of 11-6 until the one-minute interval in the first game.
After the break, Tien Chen accelerated his speed and controlled the pace of the rallies to make his opponent move around in the court and perfectly executed winning smashes on the side lines. He won the first game in just 11 minutes without facing any hurdle
at any stage of the net with a margin of 21-12.
The second game of the battle was thrilling in the start when both shuttlers remained close in the opening half. However, the experienced Tien Chen changed his tactics to get an upper hand in the match. He continued putting more and more speed and power
in his strokes. Until the interval, the Taipei shuttler managed a two-point lead by reaching at 11-9.
After taking a one-minute break, Tien Chen started to keep the bird low in order to keep his opponent struggling hard to find weak returns. The Taipei shuttler continued his planned and impressive game and remained successful in building up pressure on his
opponent.
Frohlich failed to control the pace and also struggled hard to find a good momentum. The Taipei player remained on the right track and took the second game with a margin of 21-16, in just 15 minutes. Tien Chen won the match in just 26 minutes with an impressive
score of 21-12 and 21-16.
