Nepal opened their campaign with a fine 28-run victory against Hong Kong in the seventh match of the ICC World Twenty20 Qualifiers on Day1, played at the ICC Global Cricket Academy in Dubai.

2.
Following Paresh Lohani’s dismissal in the 9th over, the Nepalese were precarious placed at 38 for. However, the team gained some respite in the form of a 4th wicket 56-run stand between captain http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Paras-Khadka-c80740 (who remained the top-scorer
of the match, with 68 runs off 62 balls) and wicketkeeper http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Gyanendra-Malla-c61015 (26).
While Malla was caught out off Aizaz http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Waqas-Barkat-c96198 in the last over as Nepal reached
130 at the expense of 6 wickets.

Hong Kong’s opener http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Irfan-c64444 Ahmed stepped up to the crease, along with Babar Hayat to chase 131, and while he got off to a good start, hitting the first ball for four, his next attempt was not so successful, which resulted in him departing off after being
holed out by Vesawkar off http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Chandra-Sawad-c49611..
Captain Jamie http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Courtney-Keith-Kruger-c51625 (2). This left Hong
Kong faltering at 28 for 5 in the fifth over.
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/John-Patrick-Roy-Lamsam-c68493 (5) struck up a valiant 6th wicket partnership which yielded 25 runs, and brought the team up to 53. The remaining lower order also performed ordinarily, and
after wicketkeeper Waqas Barkat (15) was dismissed in the 16th over, leaving his side at 78 for 9, Asif Khan’s 17 off 11 balls managed to get Hong Kong up to 102 - still falling well short of the target.
Predictably, Nepal’s Khadka won the Player of the Match award, owing to his match-winning 68-run knock.
The next round of qualifying matches are scheduled for March 14, with Hong Kong due to face http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Denmark-c2884 at Dubai’s ICC Global Cricket Academy.
