Hong Kong won the toss and elected to bat first, and while Oman’s Khalid Rasheed (10-3-31-4) and http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Hemal-Jayantilal-Mehta-c62201 (10-2-44-2) nearly succeeded in restricting them to a paltry total, Player of the Match Tanwir Afzal smashed a quick century to propel the team to
a final total of 213.
Most of the top and middle order were disposed of quickly, with http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Khan-c71319 managed 4,
and skipper Jamie http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Atkinson-c46666, and Kinchit Shah were both dismissed on duck.
By the time Aizaz Khan was trapped lbw by http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Mehta-c75574 on 7 in the 21st over, Hong Kong were at 59 for 7. However, coming in at number 8, Tanwir Afzal saved the day for the team, scoring 106 off 78 balls, in addition to setting up a 142-run stand with
Mudassar Hussain (43), which got the team total up to 201.
Tanwir Afzal was bowled by http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Nadeem-Ahmed-c78385 (1) followed him back to the pavilion in the very next over. Hussain was sent packing by Aamir Kaleem in the 49th over, and with just Karan Shah (2*) remaining at
the crease, Hong Kong were all out at 213.
In response, Oman were unable to deliver a concentrated batting performance, and faced with the assaults of Tanwir Afzal (8-1-38-3), Hussain (9-3-29-3), and Irfan Ahmed (4.5-0-16-2), the team found themselves cut off, all out, at 206.
Afzal succeeded in dismissing Oman’s openers http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Adnan-Ilyas-c42053 (0) out of the game.
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Sultan-Ahmed-c91760 (7), Amir Ali (7), and skipper Hemal Mehta (13) came and went, registering disappointing performances.
Aamir Kaleem retired hurt in the 43rd over on 58*, but Rajeshkumar Ranpura (22) carried on in his stead, establishing a 23-run partnership with Khalid Rasheed (1). The latter was dismissed by Irfan Ahmed in the 47th over, but Aamir
Kaleem returned in the 47th over, and although he teamed up with Ranpura and got his total up to an unbeaten 63, the latter found himself sent back to the pavilion in the 49th over, and Oman were cut off, all out, at 206, granting Hong
Kong a 7-run victory.
