Hong Wei, Shen Ye claim first victory in group stage of 2012 BWF Superseries Finals
Men’s Doubles team Hong Wei-Shen Ye of China relished full benefits of home ground and sealed its first victory in the group stage of BWF Superseries Finals on Wednesday, December 12, 2012.
World Number eight pair outclassed the Thai duo Bodin Issara-Maneepong Jongjit in a Group B match which lasted for just 21 minutes.
The twosome of Hong Wei and Shen Ye looked completely on song while piling up favourable figures of 21-9 and 21-9.
This encounter was staged at the local badminton arena of Shenzhen, China and a huge crowd gathered to encourage the native shuttlers.
Hong Wei and Shen Ye did not disappoint their supporters and gave them a solid reason to celebrate by registering a straight-set victory.
They made their intentions clear by clinching three consecutive points straight away in the beginning of first set.
This initial lead helped them in next couple of rallies and they did not find any trouble to place an indomitable figure of 11.
The Thai pair could not lift the burden of this deficit and knelt down tamely in latter part of the game.
Bodin and Maneepong looked completely dazzled in front of their higher ranked challengers as they could pocket just two points after the mid-game break. They kept on making fatal mistakes which ultimately paved their path to a woeful defeat.
The Chinese campaigners made best out of their opponents’ blunders and won this crucial set with an overwhelming total of 21-9.
Next segment of this showdown was also a one-sided affair as Hong Wei and Shen Ye did not give their rivals even a single counterattack opportunity and swept the table with a huge difference.
They established an unassailable lead by clinching few valuable points in a row and then doubled the impact with an impressive total before the one-minute break.
In second half of the set, they picked up some speed and widened the gap on points table.
They showed superb coordination when it was needed the most and locked the honour in a splendid manner.
Hong Wei and Shen Ye maintained a notable difference of 12 points and sealed their victory with 21-9 score.
